The Cave:
Manita Pec is the only one of the numerous caves in Velika Paklenica which is open to the public. To a depth of 175 meters, the natural arch is already researched and developed and can be visited.
The cave has two large halls, the largest so far discovered measures 65x40 meters and is 32 meters high, with lots of cave ornaments inside such as columns, stalagmites and stalactites. 
Because of their interesting shapes, some of these ornaments have been given names such as the helmet or organ.
It takes 10-30 years for an ornament to grow just a millimeter depending on the water dripping speed, so these cave ornaments are thought to be aged at least around eighty thousand years.
Manita pec has been explored and scanned for fauna by numerous renowned European biospeleologists. This resulted in discoveries of new species like the pseudoscorpion Chthonius radjai and the small crab Bogidiella sketi.
The Path:
To get to the cave, take a small trail that branches off from the main road in Anica luka toward the west side of the canyon (see waypoint), up to Manita pec. Sturdy shoes are recommended, slippers or flip-flops are not suitable for these paths or the rest of Velika Paklenica. From the branch-off it takes around 45 minutes to reach the cave entrance at an altitude of around 550 m, from where you can also enjoy a fantastic view over the valley, even if the cave is closed. From the parking place (waypoint) it takes around an hour and a half to get there.
The temperature in the cave is around 10°C all year, so adequate clothing should be brought along in the warmer part of the year.
Visiting the cave (20kn per person) is possible only with a guide and takes approximately 20 minutes. Throughout the season, no appointment is necessary. Just come to the cave entrance during the opening times and wait for the outset of the next guide.

June and October: Monday, Wednesday and Saturday 10.00-13.00
July, August and September: every day from 10.00-13.00
From November to March, smaller groups (up to 20 people) can visit the cave only with prior registration and will need a booked guide (Price incl. guide 400,00 kn). Further information at the park entrance.
The Cache:
To log this earth cache, you must answer the following questions. You can find the answers on the information board at the entrance of the cave behind the gate (no need to enter the cave):
1. What's the name of the geological epoch, terrestrial animals invaded
the caves during an interglacial?
2. In which year the cave was touristically arranged?
3. Where does the food generally come from, cave communitys
are decomposing?
4. if you want to, take a photo of you in front of the cave or at the
viewpoint and add it to your log (optional).

Špilja:
Manita pec je samo jedan od brojnih špilja u Velikoj Paklenici koja je otvorena za javnost. Do dubine od 175 metara, prirodni luk vec istraženi i razvijeni, a može se posjetiti.
Špilja ima dvije velike dvorane, najvece dosad otkrivene mjere 65x40 metara i 32 metara visok, s puno špiljskih ukrasa kao što su unutar stupova, stalagmita i stalaktita. Zbog svojih interesantnih oblika, neke od tih ukrasa dobile su imena kao što su kacige ili organa.

Die Höhle:
Manita Pec ist die einzige der zahlreichen Höhlen in Velika Paklenica, die für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich ist. Bis zu einer Tiefe von 175 Metern ist das natürliche Gewölbe bereits erforscht und entdeckt und kann besichtigt werden.
Die Höhle hat zwei große Säle, der größte bisher entdeckte misst 65x40 Meter und ist 32 Meter hoch, mit vielen Tropfsteinformatinen im Inneren, wie Säulen, Stalagmiten und Stalaktiten.Wegen ihrer interessanten Formen wurden einigen dieser Formationen Namen gegeben wie z.B. Der Helm or Orgel.
In Abhängigkeit von der Tropfgeschwindigkeit des Wassers dauert es 10-30 Jahre für einen Tropfstein, nur einen Millimeter zu wachsen, , woraus man schließen kann, dass viele der Tropfsteine mindestens rund 80.000 Jahre alt sind.
Die Tierwelt in Manita pec wurde zahlreichen namhaften europäischen Höhlenbiologen erforscht und durchsucht. Dies führte zu Entdeckungen neuer Arten wie dem Pseudoscorpion Chthonius radjai und der Zwergkrabbe Bogidiella sketi.
Der Weg:
Um zur Höhle zu gelangen, nimmt man einen kleinen Pfad, der vom Hauptweg in Anica luka in Richtung der westlichen Seite des Canyons abzweigt (siehe Wegpunkt), bis Manita pec. Festes Schuhwerk ist empfehlenswert, Badeschuhe oder Flip-Flops sind nicht geeignet für diese Pfade, ebensowenig wie für den Rest der Velika Paklenica. Von der Abzweigung dauert es etwa 45 Minuten, um den Höhleneingang auf einer Höhe von rund 550 m zu erreichen, von wo aus man auch einen fantastischen Blick über das Tal hat, auch wenn die Höhle geschlossen ist. Vom Parkplatz (Wegpunkt) dauert es etwa eineinhalb Stunden um dorthin zu gelangen.
Die Temperatur in der Höhle beträgt das ganze Jahr über etwa 10 ° C, angemessene Kleidung sollte in der wärmeren Jahreszeit also mitgebracht werden.
Ein Besuch der Höhle (20kN pro Person) ist nur mit Führung möglich und dauert ca. 20 Minuten. Während der Saison ist keine Voranmeldung nötig. Man muss nur während der Öffnungszeiten zum Höhleneingang kommen und auf den Beginn der nächsten Führung warten.
