Part of the WWFM IV Series
Its that time to gather again for a World Wide Flash Mob event! Please bookmark this cache to catch any update as they are posted. Last year's event was lots of fun and you should look up GC16WPR for the picture from Reston.
This flash mob event is part of a much larger (somewhat coordinated) effort by geocachers around the world. At 1 PM, EST, other World Wide Flash Mob (WWFM) events on the east coast will be taking place. Come and be a part of this epic event.
We'll be meeting at Sully Plaza Shopping Center. The event will last 15 minutes and only 15 minutes! When we're done, we can all go geocaching or eat at one of the many resturaunts close by.
Here's the schedule of events*:
12:45 -12:59 PM - Participants: Wait patiently and/or stroll around the area. STAY AWAY from ground zero until the signal is given. As much as you can, act like a muggle, pretend not to know each other or give any indication that something is about to happen. At 12:59AM Start your run (or walk) to ground zero. The Flash Mob Event has begun!
1:00 PM - Log card will be handed out f(if you want to fill out a 3x5 card beforehand that will save some time). BYOP! Place sign-in card in the collection box. Start to mingle and say hi to old faces as you also try to meet new ones. You can trade travel bugs and coins, swap stories, give hints to your caches, brag and swag or take pictures. You can even make arrangements to meet elsewhere after the event, or to hunt other caches.
1:06 PM - The event “banquet” will be served! (OK, small pieces of candy hardly constitute a banquet, but tradition must be served!)
1:08 PM - Assemble for a group photo, and assemble FAST. Listen to the photographer for directions. Group photo is taken.
1:12 PM - Prize drawings for FTF and perhaps other things
1:14 PM - One minute warning is called "It is now 1:14!" Prepare to leave. Say your goodbyes!
1:15 PM EXACTLY - Wait for it ...Wait for it ...Wait for it ... then LEAVE the area (right at 1:15 PM)! Meet elsewhere if desired. The log sheets container will be covered. If your name ain't in the bucket, you weren't here and you can't log the event.
If everything goes right we will have lots of people coming out of nowhere and gathering for 15 minutes, holding a geocaching event and then disappearing…This will be lots of fun and maybe even raise a few muggle eyebrows!
* Credit is given to other WWFM web pages for the content.
The nice thing about the event is it's FREEEEEE!

Post event comments
A great time. Standing at Ground Zero and watching the throngs approach was really an eerie feeling. What have I gotten myself into! But all worked out just right in the end and the hordes signed in, check swag, talked alot, at the feast, got their pictures taken and generally had a good, albeit short time to meet. But isn't that the idea of a flash mob?
Even more fun was watching the muggles drive by (we were right at the street) and look, wondering what the heck was going on.
DTWINZ logged number 900 today!
Pixieslayer made 1500 at this event!
Congrates to both for the milestone!
Thanks all that showed and I hope I can gets some pictures posted.
