Hidden behind some buildings in the heart of Burlingame is a treasure called "Drei tanzende Madchen" or the "Three Dancing Maidens". The monument was created by the German sculptor Walter Schott who reportedly recast it 30 times until he finally achieved the effect he wished. Considered his crowning achievement, it received the grand prize at the World Exposition in Brussels in 1910.

Rudolph Wurlitzer (of 19th century piano and organ fame) bought the fountain in Germany and shipped it home to form the centerpiece for his family pool in Cincinnati. In the 1950's Wurlitzer's son Raimund moved the fountain to Burlingame placing it upon property he owned. The Wurlitzer family has moved but the Three Dancing Maidens are waiting for you to enjoy!
