cache.
Update 11/08:
Some posters have wirtten that this cache is too easy and should require the one mile walk to the breakwater. My objective of this cache is to draw you to this beautiful area. Due to weather, time, and health issues on such uneven terrain, it would not be possible for everyone to make it to the lighthouse. If you can walk it, it is added bonus to finding this area.
The cache is in a snap on top type container.
It contains small items, log book, TB and coin.
This area is one of the most beautiful areas on the coast. The granite breakwater was built between the years 1881-1899. It is nearly a mile in length and was built to help protect the harbor and the ships exporting lime rock at that time. 647,627 tons of granite were used to build the breakwater, and much of it came from the island of Vinalhaven, which is 15 miles offshore and can be seen on a clear day from the cache site. The permanent lighthouse was built in 1902. It is now open for tours between the end of May and Oct. on week ends. The lighthouse is undergoing restoration at this time. There are no bathroom facilities at the lighthouse. Wear comfortable shoes if you plan to walk the breakwater as the granite has open spaces and is uneven. Be prepared for the drop in temperature as you head out. I hope you enjoy this beautiful area! You will see many lobster buoys and possibly traps being "pulled" on your way to the lighthouse. I think this area is a must see on the coast of Maine. Please be very aware of muggles as you search for the cache.
Please be careful to hide this cache just as found, so it can not be seen by passing muggles. It has been muggled in the past.
Congratulations to glassdigger for the FTF!
PLEASE HIDE THIS CONTAINER BACK AND COVER IT UP WELL DUE TO HIGH MUGGLE ACTIVITY. This container has been muggled previously. Thanks!!
