This is one of six Geocaches launched at the MGA2015 Picnic Event which was held on September 12, 2015. We decided to create a series that would be "out of this World!" So the theme of the series is the six planets of our solar system that are visible with the naked eye. The caches are placed in the order of the planets away from the sun.
Mars
Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and the second smallest planet in the Solar System, after Mercury. Named after the Roman god of war, it is often referred to as the "Red Planet" because the iron oxide prevalent on its surface gives it a reddish appearance. Mars is approximately half the diameter of Earth, and its surface area is only slightly less than the total area of Earth's dry land. Mars is host to seven functioning spacecraft: five in orbit—2001 Mars Odyssey, Mars Express, Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter, MAVEN and Mars Orbiter Mission—and two on the surface—Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity and the Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity.
The cache, a small sized lock-n-lock is hidden in the typical fashion not too far from the ecotone where field transitions to brush/woods. Please be sure to re-hide the cache to keep it from accidentally being found.
