The Buckstone lies in Highmeadow Woods near the village of Staunton
in the Forest of Dean. The huge rock on the summit of Buckstone
Hill is said to have been used in Druid ceremonies, and actually
used to rock before it was dislodged in 1885. This point is at 915
feet and one can view panoramic scenery such as views over the
Forest of dean, Highmeadow Woods and the Black Mountains.
This is a walk of approximately 2 miles there and back to the car.
The best parking is at these co-ordinates near Staunton Church -
N51 48.616 W002 39.079 GR552126 Cross the main A4136 road and walk
to the “Staunton Pound” at co-ordinates N51 48.593 W002 39.237 From
here carry straight on and take the second left between One
Staunton House and Arbour House to pass to the left of Morningwood
House to the Trig Point at the above co-ordinates N51 48.426 W002
39.959.
Taking the 4 digit number preceded by an S on the Trig Point this
= ABCD
From here after admiring the view the main cache is at
co-ordinates N51 48.(C - D)BA W002 3B.BD(B - D) is not too far away
The cache is a 2 litre plastic container covered in a bag made of
brown groundcover material containing the usual swappable items, a
log book, pen, pencil and a bookcrossing registered book of how to
juggle
