Hekinan station is the nearest station to Kaitokuji temple. It takes about 10 minutes on foot. Kaitokuji temple was established in 1462. The wooden Amida Nyorai Sitting Statue with which was familiar as Ohama great image of Buddha (4.8m) was designated as national important cultural property in 2003 because the signature sentence was found to tell the statue made from 1134 to 1136. It turned out that it was very few work at Heian era. The statue was carried here from Ise Jingu shrine with other statues by some ships through sea route due to the gods and Buddha separation order in 1869. Kongou-Rikishi Zou image in the main gate was, too. This story is a romance of the history.
