Trussville Civitan Park.
The first Cache in the Grand ol' State of Alabama, and only the 294th cache ever listed on geocaching.com. It was originally hidden by WJ ( http://bit.ly/WN4zxv ) has been maintained over the years by Bubbacache, TheAlabamaRambler, and now by Wheresdib and the Dibcrew. The cache is located just outside the Trussville Civitan Park near the foundation remains of the early-1900s Jefferson County Prison Work Camp. UPDATE 5/26/20 new larger ammo can in place inside a log nearby the stump which has rotted away. UPDATE 4/1/18 After almost 5 years, the cache is an ammo can again Update 7/29/17 Civitan Park is now open. You can park south of the cache on Parkway Drive at the veterans memorial obliesk near the cache. Enter the woods just east of the fence, stay east and follow the path north past the first two foundations. The cache is inside a trunk. Please cover the cache back well, we’ve lost several ammo cans here. ALTERNATIVELY you can park north of the cache at the Parking coordinates at Masonic Park on Park Place. There is a trail to the cache just beyond the public works but on city property between Masonic and Civitan Parks. You WILL more than likely get barked at, but the dogs are usually in their fences and are tail waggers. Stay in front of the public works and continue until you reach the back side of residential fences. Continue south along the fence line until you reach the coordinates which are reportedly 70' north of the container. NOTE: For RVs and other large vehicles, the closest place to park is across Highway 11 at the City Hall. There is not a lot of parking for larger vehicles at either the Veteran's Memorial or the Masonic Park.
