Welcome to Bill and Gary’s Excellent Adventure IV: All Keyed Up.
The winter broke early in November. A savage clipper streamed down, piling snow and freezing the spirit. As the holidays came, warming the landscape with cheer, another blast came, then another, then still more …and all thoughts turned towards Key West and a slice of Key Lime pie. B&G turned the lock in the Fortress of Solitude—using a key kept cached in a rating of a dozen total stars—and started to plot strategy for an Excellent Adventure. Ephemeral thoughts turned to ideas, ideas to a schema that once developed, turned into a key, allowing anyone with a sense of adventure to chart their way to the finish. Hardware was needed: batteries charged, cables oiled and boots were patched. Finally a stone was shaped that when dropped into the arc of this new adventure, became the key in holding it all together. Was it the key of B or was it the key of G? Whichever it was, music was heard and spring beckoned across the land.
For those of you new to the Adventure, allow me to explain the concept. Hidden at Stony Creek and Wolcott Mill Metroparks is a multi-cache adventure. You have been given the first set of coordinates, the rest are yours to earn. Each cache is a plastic container where you will find a short information package and a business-sized card. Read the information carefully, take a card, study the clue and off you go to the next set of coordinates. Collect one card from each of the five caches, present them to the receptionist at the park office and you will qualify for a drawing of gifts in January 2006. The Adventure will continue until the park office closes on 12/31/05. Winners will be contacted by mail.
My, you do seem to be keyed up. Getting a little impatient? Wishing that B and/or G would take a long walk off a short quay? Let us give you a glimpse of the key to get you off to a jolly start. Five caches to find with maybe a prelude or postscript tossed in for good measure. Sounds easy enough, don’t you think?
All of the caches are readily accessible from within the park except the first one. For this one, it is suggested that you read the Additional Hint. Parking lots for each facility are clearly marked and roadside parking while in the park is not allowed. Park rangers will issue tickets, so please use the parking lots. If you wish to park on the perimeter of the park, please refrain from parking on or crossing private property.
Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines for Bill and Gary’s Excellent Adventure IV is all keyed up and ready to rumble! Satellites are waiting!
