Geocache Description:

Slightly west of the annex building

The cache is placed in immediate connection to the "Motell Filbyter". The motel was inaugurated in 1959, when the main road passing-by was "Riks-ettan" ("The National-One Road"). Although most traffic today goes on the Motor way E4, it is still in operation and is a popular stop for many long-travelling buses - and you can still rent a bed and eat your breakfast here.

The name of the motel is well-found since Folke Filbyter is a main character in the history of Linköping and the meaning of "Filbyter" in Swedish is traffic related, it means "changing lane". Folke Filbyter is suggested as being the tribe father of "Bjälboätten" which in turn is the root of the royal dynasty "Folkungaätten" with several Swedish kings in the high middle ages, one of which is Birger Jarl who is regarded as the founder of Stockholm.

The motel is suggested to be protected as a historic monument of the car-culture of the 50's.

The cache contains a logbook, a pen, a mini flashlight (not to be removed) and an interchangeable "matchbox" car.
