The park lodge, located at 673 N. Lake Samish Drive, Bellingham is reserved for our use from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., so come early, stay late, or just drop by during the day.
The lodge features plenty of indoor seating, a big outdoor deck, restaurant-sized kitchen, stone fireplace, restrooms, and is handicap accessible. There's an enclosed swimming beach and playground for the kids, barbecue grills, hiking trails, plenty of parking, and a really cool waterfall. Bring stuff to barbecue, a potluck dish and table service for your group. Soft drinks and bottled water will be furnished -- please no alcohol!
There will be several new caches placed in the area just prior to the event, including one or two that can only be reached by boat! Bring your canoe or kayak for a chance at a FTF on these special caches -- there's a cartopper launch for small boats next to the swimming beach.
Lake Samish Park is located about 10 minutes from Interstate 5, between Mount Vernon and Bellingham.
To reach the park: From I-5 take the North Lake Samish Exit #246
Southbound: Turn Left at Stop sign.
Northbound: Turn Right at Stop sign.
Cross over the freeway.
Proceed down North Lake Samish Drive 0.8 miles; veer right at the "Y" in the road; Continue along lakeside. Samish Park is on the right side just before crossing the bridge.
Please post a "Will Attend" note and indicate the number of people who will be coming from your group. This will be a big help in planning the amount of drinks and supplies that will need to be purchased in advance. Also indicate if you'd be able to come a bit early or stay late to help with setup and cleanup chores, place a cache for the event, or help out with picking up supplies, donating a small prize, or ???
The cost of renting the lodge, soft drinks, and miscellaneous "stuff" totals about $400.00, so a $5.00 per person donation at the event to help offset these expenses isn't required, but will be greatly appreciated.
