This side of
Mercer County Park is not visited by much of the general
public. It is mostly used by fishermen and is home to the Finn M.W.
Caspersen Rowing Center, the primary training facility of
USRowing’s national
training center athletes. There are hiking trails in the woods
behind the training center. In these woods you will find both
Stage 1 and the final cache. At Stage 1 you will find the
coordinates for nearby Stage 2.
Get to the cache area via South Post Road. Disregard the “Road
Closed” signs (the road is a dead end, but is not closed) as this
is the access road for fishing this side of the lake and to get to
the U.S. Rowing Training Center. Parking is available at the
fishing access area adjacent to Lake Mercer. It’s a short walk
along the power line trail to the woods where the stages are
located.
I hope you enjoy your visit to this part of the park. Good
hunting!
