The first FLASH MOB to happen in Vancouver !
What is FLASH MOB you ask ?
A Flash Mob is a large group of people who gather at a location,
perform some brief action, and then quickly disperse.
At 10:00 am exactLy until 10:15 am exactly as determined on the
clock on your GPSr, Geocachers from all over will mysteriously
appear and meet, talk, trade swag, exchange coins and bugs but ony
for 15 minutes.
Pages will be passed around that will act as both door prize
tickets and later be put together as a log book (thanks PGcachers
for the great idea)
At preciously 10:15 the event is over!
Sequence of Events:
9:45-9:59 am: Arrive in the general area. Hang around
looking like a muggle, enjoy the park and funky statues but most
importantly STAY AWAY FROM GROUND ZERO.
10:00 am: A flag and a container will be placed at the
coordinates, this signals the start of the event. Quickly go to the
co ords, grab a log sheet. Complete the sheet and put it into the
container.
Note: you must fill in a log sheet page to be able to log this
event as "attended" so please make sure you do this. Pencils and
log sheets will be provided.
10:05 am: Trade swag, Geocoins, Travel bugs.
If any muggles are curious about the event we will have a volunteer
hand out fliers that explain geocaching.
There may be several muggles nearby who will wonder "What did I
just see? What just happened?" (That's part of the fun!)
10:07 am: A group photo will be taken. Listen to the
photographer for directions.
10:12 am Names will be drawn from the log sheet container
and called out to win prizes ! We have a Flash Mob official coin
donated from Coins and Pins, some great Geocaching stuff donated by
Groundspeak and an awesome SWAG bag and other goodies donated by
Worldcaching.com.
10:14 am: one of the Wild wiggly beanz will announce "1
minute to go". The log sheet container is sealed.
10:15:00 am: A wild wiggly beanz will call out, listen
carefully..... “Thanks for coming… see you soon” and this signals
the end of the event. Quicky leave the area in a disorganized
manner.
10:15:01 Event is over, area is clear of all evidence that anything
happened.....
That's it !
Don't be Early, Don't be Late !
This location is near where the Cache Blitz Awards Ceremony event
will be held the next day.
Here is your chance to log TWO events in one weekend but remember
to log the Flash Mob event you must arrive between 10:00 and 10:15
