Torataniseiseido bookstore was founded in 1895. Torataniseiseido and Horikoukyokudo are famous for having had Yasunari Kawabata as a regular customer. He was poor, but loved a book. The old building at the time of the opening of business was rebuilt several years ago. The store moves to the station square, and only the office is on the second floor. The new building has the old signboard.

阪急茨木市駅から西へ歩くこと数分、茨木心斎橋商店街の入口左手にあるビルはかつて虎谷誠々堂書店があった場所です。この書店は明治28年（1895）の創業で、ここから200ｍほど南にある堀廣旭堂と同様、中学生だった川端康成が足繁く通ったそうです。康成は本代の捻出に悩みながらもやはり、本の虫だったとか。開業当初の木造2階建ての建物はつい数年前まで残っていたものの、いまは建て替えられて1階がコンビニエンスストア、2階は書店の事務所となってしまいました。当時を偲ぶ年季の入った看板が保存されているので、是非、一見を。
