Note::Just to let everyone know....The Geo-Triad Trackable Geo-Coin that we thought was discontinued is available through a few venders, just Google the words (Triad Geocoin) this will bring up the venders who still have them as this one would be a great addition to the completion of the Triad Challenge. 
This cache is to commemorate the three most famous places in this (GPS) global positioning stash hunt starting with the first cache ever placed, The first stash (a bucket partially buried underground on the outskirts of Portland, Oregon) and was placed by the brilliant Dave Ulmer on May 3rd 2000. By May 6th, two readers of the USENET newsgroup sci.geo.satellite-nav had found it and logged their visits in the logbook. It has now turned into a worldwide phenomenon known as geocaching... On September 2, 2000 The official website was launched by Jeremy Irish, a geocacher, who felt that the activity needed its own official source online. At the time of its launch, only 75 caches existed in the world. As of 2010, there are nearly 1.2 million caches worldwide.... The second place in geocaching history is...Groundspeak Inc, formerly Grounded Inc. and known today as Groundspeak Headquarters (aka The Lilly Pad ), who manages this global sport and continues to develop tools to help the gps enthusiasts to create these unique adventures in the real world, and is a privately-owned corporation headquartered in Seattle Washington and can be visited by appointment only by contacting Groundspeak at ( contact@geocaching.com ) to obtain the address and or the coordinates to their office. Note:: Groundspeaks appointments are usually held at 2:00 PM on Fridays, although special arrangements can be made if you are only in town for a couple of days and would like to visit the HQ so you can claim your triad and this challenge...Note:The office is currently unavailable to visitors on Mondays. Now the third most famous cache in the world of geocaching was The Project Ape cache.. In 2001, 20th Century Fox in conjunction with Geocaching.com released a series of twelve caches intended to promote the movie Planet of the Apes. The containers were all 60mm ammo cans with Project A.P.E. stenciled on the side. Inside each container was a prop from the movie. In 2003, 20th Century Fox separated themselves from the promotion completely and most of the caches were adopted by their respective owners. Many were soon archived, and now only two caches of the Project A.P.E. type remain active today (one is in Brazil and the other is in the US not far from Seattle, Washington near Snoqualmie Pass). Mission 9 Tunnel of Light. This is the only Project A.P.E. cache that has been re-listed as a traditional using the same coordinates and the original container. Note: That a $5 Northwest Forest Day Pass is needed to access the trail head to this cache and can be purchased at the near by towns gas station and can not be purchased at the trail head parking. This will save you from having to pay a $250 dollar fine for parking without it. Now in order to claim The Triad Challenge you must have found and logged online.

****NOTE:The original content of this cache has been kept for historical purposes, all original APE Cache finders are welcome to log as well as all finders of the new Mission 9 replacement.************************* These caches when a line is drawn from each location form a giant triangle) Should you choose to accept this mission............ Once you have found and logged all three of these caches you need to create a bookmark for this challenge and call it (The Triad Challenge) make sure that it is marked as shared for public display, add these three required caches in the bookmark list so that it can be verified, place the date that you found each one in your comments box and log the final cache, if your 3 finds cannot be verified your log will be deleted.... NOTE: If you have already found the three required caches then more power to you, go locate the final location and enjoy your Triad Challenge. Note: The final location is actually 3.5mi off of the actual geographical center due to the fact there would be over a 5 mile hike one way or a 3.5mi hike the other, then a 1.5 mile hike of 100% bushwhacking so we decided not to go there... The final location of this cache is seasonal as it is at an elevation of 2686ft, the road is mostly paved and a smaller vehicle can get very close but there are a few potholes on the last leg of the gravel shoot towards the Goat Mountain trail head, it would be the last 1/2 mile that would be questionable but this is up to you and your vehicles capabilities and your ambition to claim this smilie...The drive to the cache is quite beautiful and the scenery is "Awesome" we took highway 12 to Randle and turned towards US Forest Road 25 then to Forest Road 26 then FR 2612, or you can go through Woodland, to highway 503 to USFR 90, there are other ways in but due to fire season those alternative routes can be restricted as we found out on our first attempt to the center, the actual cache is in an ammo can and parking can be found close by .
