Passion Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

SoCalAdmin: Greetings from Geocaching.com

It looks like your cache has been temporarily disabled for a while now and is still under the weather.

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time I don’t think we can do so any longer. Therefore, I have archived this cache. If you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If you wish to repair this cache and have it reposted, it will be no problem. Just drop me a note and let me know the GC waypoint number of the cache or better yet, the URL of the cache page. You will still be able to access your cache page just as before by going to your “My Cache Page” and clicking the link of your cache.

I will be more than happy to take a look at your cache again to see if it is still is within the guidelines of the Geocaching.com website for cache placement and posting.

Having caches marked as “temporarily disabled” for extended periods of time is very irritating to local cachers because these caches will still show up on their TO-DO cache lists.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and I am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the near future.

Thanks for your understanding,

SoCalAdmin

Geocache Description:

Come to Hollywood and lay your burdens at the foot of the cross... The Great Hollywood Cross, that is.

Anyone driving along the Hollywood Freeway going over the Cahuenga pass has noticed up in the sky a giant illuminated cross seemingly floating there of its own accord. Well, now is your excuse to find your way up to the foot of this cross. Better bring your hiking shoes, though, because this is one steep hike. Only a mere .13 miles from the closest parking spot, but practically straight up. Once you get up there, though, you will be rewarded with an incredible view. You can see over into some of the Valley. You can also see from downtown all the way to the ocean. And, you even get a nice overhead view of the Hollywood Bowl.

Click on General Info -> History at this link to read a little about who built this and the John Anson Ford Theater.

Clearly the theme of this cache, along with the quotes from the Bible below are offensive to some. It must be the quotes, as the cache itself contained not much more than a logbook and a pencil. In fact, one person has put it upon themselves to remove this cache in the name of ridding the sport from any mention of religion. This cache may even represent a belief that is contrary to your own. But, here is your chance to stand up for the freedom of expression that we espouse here in this country. Otherwise, the next cache they come for may be yours.

While you are up there, feel free to say a prayer, or just observe a moment of silence. Be sure to give thanks for your health and the people that love you at the very least. And also, whatever your position on this war we find ourselves in, let's keep the safety of all involved in our hearts.

1 Corinthians 1:18
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Colossians 2:13-15
When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

Hebrews 12:2
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
