Chincoteague and Assateague islands on the Eastern Shore of Virginia are vacation destinations for people from all over the USA and the world.
June 5, 2015 update: This cache is about to be disabled. If you want the container, cable, contents and lock to use somewhere as a cache of your own, locate key to padlock in ammo can. Log that you are claiming the cache container. I will then disable this Geocache. I hope you have as much fun with this cache as I have. I will be moving and cannot take it with me. Enjoy!
Some come for the beach, some to photograph the wildlife and ponies, others for fishing, fresh seafood and boating. Maybe you came to relax for a few days. Whatever the reason, you are here! Welcome and thanks for coming.
Please log the date, your nickname and where you traveled here from (i.e, "Akron OH," "Marquette Island MI," "Tullahoma TN," "West Blocton AL," "Spangdahlem Germany," "Dublin Ireland," etc.) on the Geocaching.com Web site.
Photographs are optional but greatly appreciated! Why not upload a picture of your favorite sunset, ocean view, fish or crab you caught, a wildlife scene - or a picture yourself? View our photo gallery and share the fun!
There is ample room in the container for Geocoins and trading trinkets - please leave something of equal or greater value if you take something!
If time allows, stop in and visit Matt, the restaurant owner. Matt authorized placement of this cache on Friday, February 8, 2013 and is a nice guy who is fascinated with Geocaching and a good story when he isn't busy. Tell him your favorite Geocaching experience and show him your GPS.
The container should be waterproof if the lid remains closed and properly latched. This can be a busy location. Use stealth and keep an eye on small children because of vehicles on the road and in the parking lot. The cache is accessible within 5-10 feet of the clamshell parking lot and is on level ground. Please re-hide the container so it will not be muggled!
Please limit searches to the hours between 6:00 am to 10:00 pm 7 days a week in order to avoid looking suspicious to locals and police.
While on Chincoteague Island and the Eastern Shore of Virginia, be sure to visit Groundspeak's other fun-filled free GPS activity, Waymarking.com.There are many interesting Waymarks to visit in this area. Have a great time!
