This is (at least) the third incarnation of the Cupertino Library
on this site. It was a neat little three story building when I
first encountered it in the mid 70s. They added an annex in the
80s, but the community soon outgrew the expanded building. The
newest version is much larger and much more open inside. After
you're done with the cache, go on inside and explore!
Your journey starts at:
N37 19.097 W122 01.737
Here you will find a neat little statue. Examine it closely to
determine the latitude of the actual cache.
A = # of shelled animals here.
B = # of letters in the artist's name as shown on the statue
(not on the plaque -- look on the back side, near the ground on
the far left of the statue as you face the back).
C = (# of non-humans) - (# number of humans).
Ok, now walk over to
N37 19.038 W122 01.724
This plaque was placed when these trees were planted. I played
soccer on the nearby field in those times, and I remember these
trees when they were little. Read the plaque to determine the
longitude of the actual cache.
D = The last digit of the year associated with people
doing the dedication.
E = (# of times the word "with" appears) * 2
F = The last digit of the year associated with the people that this
plaque is dedicated TO.
You'll find the actual cache at:
N37 19.ABC W122 01.DEF
Please be sure and cover it up when you rehide it. Also, please
try and tread lightly as you enter the area, so that we don't get
too much of a geotrail going. Have fun!
PS: A, B, C, D, E, and F add up to 26. (I hate
it when there's no checksum on these sorts of caches.)
[12/23/04 -- Updated the description for B, since folks were
having trouble with it.] [7/13/05 -- Cache is now a micro in the
same location.]
