Deer View Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

ehoover: We finally checked on the cache, and decided to retire it, due to a number of factors. First, the cache had been vandalized in a rather nasty way, so I was going to need to get another container and find a different spot at least 50-100 yards away. Second, the poison oak seems to be doing quite well around there. Third, there's talk of extending Monte Cresta, and if that's approved by the city, one access point would be blocked for quite a while during construction.

Overall, this is unfortunate, because it was our first and only cache, where we launched our first and only travelbug. Also, this is a great viewpoint, known only to some locals in the neighborhood, so it was great to lead people to this spot. We're already contemplating our next cache location. Thanks to everyone who visited!

Geocache Description:

There are often deer in the area, particularly in the summer. Even if you don't see any deer, on a clear day, you'll get a nice view of Sugarloaf, the bay, and San Francisco.

You're looking for a mid-sized rubbermaid container that's been camoed. There's poison oak in the area, so please be careful.

There are a number of access points, and depending upon your chosen one, the terrain could be more difficult. Part of the challenge is figuring out "how do you get there", but I've added a hint on where to start, just in case. Although this is stating the obvious, you don't need to go on private property to get to the cache.

This is intended to be an easy cache and a good excuse for a short walk. Given some recent "did not finds", there are now four cache hints. None is a true spoiler, but each progressive hint should narrow down the hunt. Hopefully, no one goes home empty handed.

This is our first cache, so we're launching our first travel bug, San Jose Shark, on his journey.
