CITO at our Adopted City of Hickory Park and Rec. dept parks
Geitner CITO by NC Foothills Geocachers - Sunday April 13th, 11AM until the trash is cleaned up. The North Carolina Geocachers Organization (NCGO) is sponsoring a number of Cache In, Trash Out events across the state this weekend and Next weekend. The idea is for cachers throughout North Carolina to help clean up parks (1.) because we can and (2.) because positive PR is always a good thing.
NC Foothills adopted all of the City of Hickory Parks (through the City of Hickory Park and Recreation Department) last year in an effort to help keep the parks clean and enjoyable, along with the PR factor. We have for the past two years only been cleaning up Geitner as part of our obligation. We have done so well that Park and Rec approached us for help and asked if we would adopt all the parks. We chose to do so for another two year's. We pick a day, they pick a park.
In a joint effort with the NC Geocachers.org website NCFoothills-geocachers.com have decided to help participate in the State Wide CITO Effort.
In order for all the events to go smoothly with lots of folks to help the Foothills event at Geitner will Start at 11am on Sunday April 13, 2008.
We are obligated to 7 more CITO's the various parks over the next 2 years. Look for these about every 3 or 4 months.
As more information becomes available I will add to the page. This may change venues to a different park if deemed necessary by the City of Hickory Park and Rec. Please log a "Will Attend" as soon as possible so that we can get a better head count.
We will have Food, Fun, Hard Work, 50/50 Raffle, and other prizes.
Mrs. Parrothead will be the local contact. We will not add any caches to the area but there are plenty around the general area.
