This cache will bring you to the secluded Bluff Cove on Palos Verdes Penninsula. This is a great surf spot when the NW swell is big. Popular with 'weekend warriors' and older surfers. Less hecktick than Indicator, the spot on the point to the south where the waves can be monstrous and the locals are ruthlessly territorial. Lots of dog walkers come down here too.
Drive to a point on the road near a survey bench mark near the coordinates N 33° 47.820 and W 118° 24.416, nearly 160 off the water. Park your car, leave nothing valuable in it. Curb your wheels.
Covered shoes are a must. If it's sunny, slather on the sunscreen. If it's foggy or windy, bring a jacket. There are no public fascilities here. It's only a 10 minute walk to the cache area, but you might want to stay awhile. Be a sport and tote out a couple pieces of trash when you leave.
Look for the dirt access road to the North. Proceed South on the access road toward the beach in the cove. Mind your footing; loose rocks are sharp, some dog owners aren't.
Before being converted to a Virtual Cache in July 2003, the cache box was located near a stone and concrete platform about 30 feet above the beach, which is a fantastic lookout for viewing the surf. All in all, this venue is a great refuge from the rat race of life. So close to it, but so far from the hustle and bustle.
