The Series:
There are ten caches in this series. Each cache contains
one-tenth of a $10,000 bill with a number on it. When you visit
each cache, note the location of the bill segment and the number on
the bill. Use these ten numbers to find the final cache!
A bit of history: Lee's 6000th
cache!
Lee found "Sunnyvale History"
while on one of his casual caching days... only 23 finds. As I
recall, I knew he was caching in my area because I kept getting
phone messages from him begging for hints!
This cache
Well, Lee still has my number, so
I hid this one where there is NO cell reception.
This "trail", if you can call it that, was recently explored at
length by Motorbug and I while hunting another cache. We were WAY
off track, but it seemed a good spot for a placement.
The cache is an ammo can, with a bit of camo, stuck out in the open
for all to see.
Oh, and the 10K connection here?
That's the approximate number of stream crossings required to reach
this one.
The clues:
As you progress up stream into the canyon, you will see the creek
nearly blocked by four large boulders (well, three actually, but
the fourth is trying hard). Pass these (if you stand on the one to
your left and look south 130' you can ALMOST see the cache!), cross
the stream again near three small parallel logs, and look for a
large fern four feet from the edge of the creek bank, about four
feet above the level of the stream bed (the fern is currently
battling a large fallen maple tree, but will likely rebound in the
rains).
The rubber stamp and pad are a part of the
letterbox- do NOT take them! Use them to stamp your personal
letterbox logbook (if you have one), and stamp the letterbox log
with your own personal stamp.
