The cache is located near, but not in, a burial ground of unnamed
Neolithic peoples who built the Cashtal yn Ard tombs. Access to the
cache may only be made along the clearly marked public footpath
which runs from minor road to the south of the Ards. The cache is
about 200 metres along that footpath. There is no access from the

surrounding farmland and if you are unsure, check the location on a
map. .
Cashtal yn Ard
For those of you visiting Cashtal yn Ard you may of course log it
as a find but only small items may be dropped off - it is a very
small container which contains only a log book.
Cashtal yn Ard (The Castle of the Heights) is one of the best
ancient monuments on the Isle of Man. One of three Neolithic tombs
dating from around 2000 BC, it is the best preserved of them all
and reputedly one of the largest of its kind in the British Isles.
The monument was originally a megalithic chambered Cairn holding
five chambers and extending over 130 feet long. Such sites were
used as communal burial places for Neolithic chieftains and their
families.
