The hamlet of Middleham was swept away in the great flood on 15th August 1952.
The 10 cottages and their foundations were all lost.
All that remains is the steep 3-tiered gardens that are now a Memorial Gardens in the care of the Lyn Community Development Trust.
Well worth a visit if only to see the Bedstead Tree, possibly the only example in the country.
There are picnic tables in the gardens.
See waypoint for free parking on the other side of the river from the cache, there is a bridge upstream.
Cache is a small round locktop box.
