Geocache Description:

GAGAFAP I
Guelph Area Geocachers And Friends Annual Picnic

Well it's over!! And what a success!!

  • 19 GeoCaching teams (36 warm bodies).

  • 6 temporary caches hidden for the day.

  • 1 new permanent cache hidden in Riverside Park (thanks J.A.R.S.!!)

  • 11 temporary micro-caches hidden for the multi-micro event.

  • PLUS 2 visitors as a result of reading an article on geocaching the very morning of the picnic!
I would like to thank each and every team who came out.    The event wouldn't have been a success without all of you.    The work I put into organizing the day was paid off in full just by seeing all your smiling faces!    Thanks also for the contributions to the cost of the picnic.

To those of you who couldn't make it this time... We hope to see you next year!

To all our new friends... Thank you.

The Prizes
Everyone who finished the multi-micro event entered their name into a draw for two "fabulous prizes"!

  • Winner of the first-place prize was Bullzie who walked away with a new compass.

  • Second prize was a new set of Travel Bug tags and was won by Flick.
Congratulations to the winners... I hope to have bigger and better prizes next year!

Next Year!!!
Will there be an event next year?
Do ducks have lips??!!

Some of the things I would like to see next year (in no particular order of importance):
  • More people... the more, the merrier. We had a great turnout this year from a fairly wide geographic area, but we certainly didn't have ALL the geocachers from this area. Let's try for more next year...

  • A new location. But it has to be at least as nice as Riverside Park. The KW/Cambridge/Guelph area has the advantage of being centrally located in SW Ontario so I don't want to make a drastic move. We can draw people in from quite far away if we stay in this area.

  • A new name? GAGAFAP doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, and doesn't really reflect the geographic demographic we had at the picnic this year. Ideas?

  • Sponsors. Why not? I would love to have Garmin provide a new GPS unit for a door prize!

  • Charity. Always a nice idea. Give something back to those who are less fortunate.

  • Some assistance! It was fun setting up the picnic this year, but next year I'd like some help to make it event better. A few of the group have already offered to help.

The Pics
Thanks to everyone who took photos and uploaded them with their logs. I've scooped them all and have reposted them here.
