Geocache Description:

This Cache is Located in Blair Valley of the Anza Borrego State Park.  This is a fun hike up the mountain approximately 240 feet on a rocky, cactus trail.

Blair Valley

Rocket Man, Fkrexcal and ArcAtt 2005

Navajos 2005 (Little Blair in Background)

To get to Blair Valley, exit on the east side off Highway S2 at N 33 02.233 W 116 24.636.  Travel along the Western edge of the mountain range for approximately 1.4 miles.  Stop at N 33 01.580 W 116 23.694 and look up the mountain toward a heading of approximately NE 40 degrees; then go to the large "Peek-a-boo" between the rocks at the ridge line.  Note:  There have been rattlesnakes seen in the rocks on this ridge, so look first before you place your feet or hands in between the rocks.

This was one of the earliest geocaches to be placed in Anza Borrego region and the weekend it was placed marked the beginning of geocaching for Rocket Man, fkrexcal and ArcAtt.  We were camping in Blair Valley with a large group of North San Diego County Indian Princesses.  The Indian Princesses is a father-daughter program run through the YMCA.  We had read about geocaching in the San Diego Union and fkrexcal decided to bring along a cache container to hide.  On Saturday March 17th 2001, we hunted down the infamous "Mud Cave Cookie Tin" cache and we were the second ones to find it.  On Sunday, we left this cache above Blair Valley.  Thanks to fkrexcal for bringing the cache container and ArcAtt for recording the coordinates on his e-trex and initially entering the cache page.

Note: If you don't want to climb straight up the rocks the hard way, you can find a trailhead at N 33 01.592 W 116 23.635. Follow the trail to the top of the saddle ridge at N 33 01.680 W 116 23.589 and then travel South along the ridge line to the cache.

Happy Geocaching,
Rocket Man, fkrexcal and ArcAtt
