Geocache Description:

A lovely ridge walk on well marked footpaths and bridleways but be warned to gain the ridge means a steep climb.
There are several routes to the cache but generally the shorter the distance the steeper the path.
The paths are wet muddy and slippery so good footwear is highly recommended.

The cache is placed near Carreg Bica a large standing stone on Drummau Mountain.

The stone is local sandstone and is around 13ft high and is believed to be a bica monument. The word "carreg" means "stone" in Welsh. It was mentioned in a charter to King John to William de Breos in 1203 as "meynhirion" as a boundary stone marking the Gower.

The stone walled fields on the mountain top were constructed by the Cistercian monks from nearby Neath Abbey and many sections are still standing from Cistercian times.

The cache is a one litre lock and lock type plastic box. Hope you enjoy the cache and the views.

The standing stone Carreg Bica is a short distance from the cache at N51° 40.763 W003° 50.746

Suggested on street parking in Drumau Park is at N51° 39.884 W003° 50.609 then head up the narrow lane.
