Geocache Description:

The proposed 7th course for St Andrews Golf Club

It has only been known by a few people that the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews was planning to build a Golf Course in Brisbane in 1900. Plans were drawn up and the layout of the course started. However due to an ongoing feud between the Scottish Club and  the Brisbane Club as to who had the best golfers, funding was withdrawn and the plans scrapped.

The maps of the layout of the course have only recently been recovered from the cellar of Caledonian Club in a 40 year old case of Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

The Old Course at St Andrews was originally 11 holes and Warrigal was to be based on this original course. This multi cache will take you around the proposed course.

Also to be in keeping with the original old course each tee was to be located beside the previous hole.

The first tee is located at the coordinates specified on this page and has the bearing to the first hole. All markers are of a similar size as the one at this tee but can be of two different constructions.

At the first 10 holes you will find a marker which will indicate

A. On the left of the tag is the number of the hole.

B. On the bottom right is the bearing to the next hole.

C. On the top right is a number between 0 and 9.

Example:

1 4
123

At the 11th hole the marker has the order of the holes that the 10 numbers are to be used. These 10 numbers are to be entered in this order into the coordinates S27° xx.xxx and E153° xx.xxx . These coordinates will take you to the location where the club house was to be built and a cache has been left.

Following is the description of the course by Allieballie which was found with the plans.

The lengths of the holes will be needed along with the bearing marked at the hole to find the way to the next hole.
