Geocache Description:

Located in heart of Mitchelton, Blackwood st was first created in 1913 when Arthur Blackwood sold a large portion of land known as the Oxford Park Estate, between Samford Road and Kedron Brook. It was a subdivision of 300 suburban allotments and 8 larger farm allotments on St Helens Road fronting Kedron Brook.

Mitchelton itself was first established in 1875 when an English emigrant, Nicholas Mitchell, purchased an estate which he named "Mitchelton". The first subdivision was created in the 1890s.

Nowadays, Blackwood st is a vibrant local shopping strip full of various cafes, restaurants and other businesses. It’s great place to visit for breakfast or lunch. And a cache.

You might even see some local wildlife while you're there.

This area is a high muggle area so some discretion and patience may be required. As much as the Sunday markets are worth visiting, it’s not recommended to going looking for this cache when they are on as it can be too busy.
