Geocache Description:

The Georgia Geo-Campers will be camping at Fort McAllister State Park the weekend of November 10th - Veterans Day Weekend. This is our 5 YEAR anniversary camping at Ft McAllister state park. Most of the camping geocachers will be arriving on the 10th to set up camp and to explore all the awesome POI's this state park offers.

SPECIAL NOTICE
Have you ever seen a cannon fired at night time? We did! Thanks to Philip for taking this great shot. No guarantees on a cannon firing this year but who knows? Fort McAllister is allowing the Georgia Geo-Campers this unique opportunity and you don't want to miss out on camping --> INSIDE<-- the fort either! A 'must do' for any camping enthusiast.

Schedule of Activities:
6:00 Stone Soup (bring a can or another food item and add it to the pot over the fire, then share dinner with everyone)
6:30 Bonfire (we supply the s'mores)
7:30 Prizes/activities - including the Jackpot Camper Drawing (bring unactivated trackables to participate)
8:00 Candle Lantern Tour of the Fort

You don't have to camp in the fort to be able to attend this event. All geocachers are invited to attend this, 'must experience' event.

To Camp With the Georgia Geo-Campers Within The Fort:
To reserve a camp site inside the fort with the Georgia Geo-Campers, just include in your 'Will Attend' log - "reserve camp site please", or you can contact us directly via profile.

*PLEASE* - DO NOT CALL THE PARK! The historic Fort has been reserved just for geocachers to campout. To simplify reservations for everyone, I will update the "Fort Campers" list below who have reserved a site and collect the camp money for the park.

COST:
$25 per tent for two days camping (Friday and Saturday).
$5 Candle Lantern Tour for those who are not camping. (with park pass per vehicle)

Got a camper and want to stay in the campground? You don't like to camp out and rather rent a cottage for the weekend? No worries! The park has several accommodations to meet your needs. You'll need to make those reservations by visiting the state parks reservation system by clicking here.

More Camping 411
Every vehicle is required to have a $5 parking pass for any state park. There will be no vehicle traffic in the camping area. Campers are allowed to drive into the fort to drop off gear before returning to the parking area. There will be water and restrooms for us but no electric. Showers can be used in the camp ground.

The tents can stay up as long as they don't block the daily visitors. Tent canopies are allowed. Hammock campers: no trees are available so bring your stands / tripods!
