Welcome to BRISBANE!
Once you're at the location of this cache, there's simply no doubting what city you're in.
This spot literally screams "BRISBANE".
From here you have a great view across the BRISBANE River to the city of BRISBANE.
Behind you is the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, and a short way away are two Art Galleries, the Queensland Museum, and the State Library of Queensland.
This area has to be one of the jewels in the crown of our beautiful city, popular with locals and visitors alike.
Come and spend a day exploring the beautiful South Bank Parklands.
To claim a find of this cache, you need to perform a couple of tasks before you post your log:-
1: Find the name of the child who, like all geocachers, loves "adventures under blue skies and in big green spaces."
2: Now, look for a great place to take a photo of the letters, with the city in the background. You'll find such a spot right next to a black light pole. (Hint: it's the spot from where the background image on this page was taken.)
At the base of that pole is a metal tag with some numbers and letters and dashes on it.
Now... send an email as follows:
To: [child's name]@Brisbane.EngPhil.net
Subject: GC7B7VP: [your caching name] (multiple names are fine on one email if you're in a group)
In the body of the email, include the text on the tag, EXACTLY as it appears.
You should receive an immediate reply, with either permission to log, or an invitation to try again.
You also need to post a photo with your log.
The detail of the photo is up to you -- try one of the following, or come up with something of your own!
- A photo of your GPS (or a smartphone screenshot showing your coordinates)
- A photo of yourself with the feature at GZ (up to you if you want to show your face)
- A photo of the view with a signature item
- An original artistic shot of the letters
Just prove to me with the photo that you were there, and log your find. And above all, have fun!
Note, you must send this email before submitting your "found it" log. Failure to do so will result in deletion of your log. You don't need to wait for the reply (though it should be instantaneous), however you do need to submit the email first!
Note: Occasionally GZ is unavailable for events or the like. If you are unfortunate enough to experience this, please understand that you may not claim a find. This is no different from any physical cache type being temporarily inaccessible. As you might with a Traditional, please feel free to return once the area is accessible once more, and fulfil the requirements.
