Geocache Description:

On the Western Explorer Road between Smithton and Corinna this stop shows you the Savage River which runs into the Pieman.  There is a walk from here that will take you for about one hour [each way] along the Savage River to it's mouth where you will be in the right place for geocache Savage River Walk. Alternatively you can walk to Savage River Walk from the car park at Corinna but it is then a more arduous hike of three hours return.

This cache is one of several that are being put down/have been put down to lure you into the wonders of the Tarkine Wilderness and the spectacle of the Pieman River at Corinna and of course they are accessible whether travelling south or north.  The series will grow over the next six months and will not be in number order.

Unlike many places in the world the Tarkine remains a hidden treasure and a forgotten wilderness. This expanse of uninterrupted 477,000 hectares of Tarkine wilderness holds ancient relics of both plants and animals dating back millennia, and unique habitats not found anywhere else.  The cache owner is available at Corinna which is remote enough not to have any comms or internet reception.  If visiting Corinna please, you will find me at one of Corinna's cache locations.  Please say hello.
