Geocache Description:

The Cache is near a foundation of an abandoned building left from the ghost town of Peerless Utah. You'll need to park in Spring Canyon and hike up to the cache site by following the old wagon trail.  It would take an average hiker about an hour to get to the cache and back down to your car.   Please respect the area, be careful around the old foundations, and keep an eye out for snakes, as they like our desert terrain.

This Cache is hidden near the old Peerless Coal Mine which is located in Peerless, Utah.  Peerless is now a ghost town in Spring Canyon, in Helper Utah.  At its peak in 1918, the town's population was about 300, half of which worked in the mines. The community included thirty homes, a store, a school, the mine office, a post office, and a poolhall.  In 1938, coal mining activity began to decline and people began to leave. By World War II, the mine was operating very little, and only a few people remained. The mine closed in 1954, and the rest of the residents left. A few foundations and filled-in mine shafts remain.  (Reference http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peerless,_Utah)
