1947 The APBA Gold Cup was run at Jamaica Bay, NY. Danny Foster piloted Miss Peps V owned by the Dossin Brothers with an average speed of 56.8 MPH. Miss Peps V name was shortened version of Pepsi Cola as commercial sponsors were not a part of the sport at the time.

Danny Foster brother the race back to Detroit for 1948 and won the race that year as well with an average speed of 57.452 NPH. This time in the boat named Miss Great Lakes. 1948 the Detroit river was so rough that it was the most destructive Gold Cup on record as Miss Great Lakes was one the two boats, of 22 boats to finish the race and then sank itself at the dock as the trophy was being presented.
