Vik Muniz’s current exhibit at MOCA explores the use of unconventional materials to create works of art. Muniz will create an image with mediums such as food, garbage, or diamonds, then photograph his creation.
Vik Muniz creates stunning images, while investigating the history of art and of visual reproduction. By employing diverse objects such as toys, diamonds, industrial garbage, and minute magazine clippings, Muniz creates tableaus which are preserved through photographic reproduction. Cachers have the option, after signing the log, to create a work of art using some or all of the materials in this box as well as anything close to this cache. Once you have created a work, photograph it and post your picture with your log entry. Then, disassemble your creation and put your materials back where they came from for the next cacher to find so they can create something completely new.
