This is a multi-cache taking you on a self-guided tour through Dobby's Frontier Town, a recreation of an early 1900's community.
You need to complete this cache before sunset, as there are no lights in the buildings. This is an easy cache, but probably not handicapped accessible. Plan on spending about 90 minutes to tour the town.
Welcome to Dobby's Frontier Town. Most people try to slow down a little when they retire, but Dobby was an avid collector of antiques and memorabilia from his childhood in Alliance. Twenty-five years ago he began constructing buildings to house some of his "finds", and pretty soon people in the area were calling him and asking him if he wanted buildings from their property.
What you will see as you tour Dobby's Frontier Town are a combination of original buildings from the Panhandle along with recreations of businesses Dobby remembers from his youth.
Begin at the Lonesome Duck Saloon. From there you'll work your way south and around the town square. In each building you need to look for an old bottle with a sheet of paper rolled up inside. This paper will tell you something about the location you are in and then give you directions to your next stop. Not every building has a note, as some are added or updated every year, or people remove the bottles. After the school, you'll head south again into the old town square and head to the post office. After the gas station, you'll head north to the two houses.
There will not be a bottle in the last building, the cabin. There you have to look for the cache. Hope you brought something to trade!
You are welcome to go into every building and look around. Please put things back as you found them. The buildings are locked from October to March, so if you want to complete this cache during the winter, you'll have to message the CO or call first: 308-760-3574 or 308-760-7855.
