Lamma Island - Mount Stenhouse
Mt Stenhouse, also known as Shan Tei Tong, is at 353m Lamma's tallest peak . From here, in good weather, you can see large parts of Hong Kong Island and Lamma Island.
Less known is that the Japanese during the occupation of Hong Kong built some tunnels in the hillside. Besides the well-known kamikaze grottoes there are at least five tunnels higher up in the hills. I have no information on the intended use of these tunnels, other than that they are built by the military. One of them can be found shortly down the path from the cache; the tunnel can be entered quite easily. Always be very careful when entering such tunnels, and remember you do so at your own risk.
The path up to Mt Stenhouse is rocky and partially overgrown, it's a tough and steep hike. The northern path is a bit worse than the eastern path. The cache is hidden near the peak.
Getting there.
