This is 'dieterwi's and 'BlueRain's 25th Cache of the U.S. Quarter Series. Since BlueRain has been living for a year in the U.S. in 2007/2008, we had the idea to create a Geocache series in Germany in memory of that time. This series is now been continued in our second homestead in Florida.
Some of the U.S. Quarters carry a special picture, each of which represents a state. In some caches we glued the unique Quarters into the cap of the cache container.
The commemorative 50 State Quarters series has been published since 1999 by the U.S. Mint. By the end of 2009, all 50 U.S. states will be honored at the back of the 25-cent coin with an individual design.
Every 73 days, or exactly 5 times per year, issued a new 25-cent coin with individual character. The program has a ten-year period andafter the year 2008 each of the fifty states has got its own "quarter". The representation of the back refers always to the particular state and shows a tradition, a historical event or a typical symbol for the state. The design was created for each of a citizen of the State
Arkansas is a state located in the southern region of the United States. Its name is an Algonquian name of the Quapaw Indians. Arkansas shares a border with six states (clockwise: N: Missouri; E: Tennessee, Mississippi; S: Louisiana; W: Texas, Oklahoma) with its eastern border largely defined by the Mississippi River. Its diverse geography ranges from the mountainous regions of the Ozarks and the Ouachita Mountains, which make up the U.S. Interior Highlands, to the eastern lowlands along the Mississippi River. The capital and most populous city is Little Rock, located in the central portion of the state. Arkansas is the only state to specify the pronunciation of its name by law (AR-kan-saw).
Article 19 (Miscellaneous Provisions), Item 1 in the Arkansas Constitution is entitled "Atheists disqualified from holding office or testifying as witness," and states that "No person who denies the being of a God shall hold any office in the civil departments of this State, nor be competent to testify as a witness in any Court."
Bill Clinton, the 42nd President of the United States, was born in Hope, Arkansas. Before his presidency, Clinton served as the 40th and 42nd Governor of Arkansas, a total of nearly 12 years.
The Territory of Arkansas was organized on July 4, 1819. On June 15, 1836, the State of Arkansas was admitted to the Union as the 25th state and the 13th slave state. Planters settled in the Delta to cultivate cotton; this was the area of the state where most enslaved African Americans were held. Other areas had more subsistence farmers and mixed farming.
The Coin was released on October 20, 2003
It shows a Diamond (state gem), rice stalks, mallard flying above a lake
