The only Moai statue outside of Easter Island!
In 1990, 11 natives from Easter Island were brought to Vitorchiano, near Viterbo, to make this Moai. It's not historical, but it's the only one outside Easter Island. Made of a single block of stone, it's 10 meters high and weighs 30 tons.
Vitorchiano is near Viterbo, about 90 km N of Rome. You can park right next to the Moai, take a picture and look for the cache. The cache is beyond the fence, but far from the edge of the cliff, so don't worry: it's not dangerous, you don't have to climb the fence. But keep an eye on your kids, of course.
While looking for a suitable place for the cache, we've found what looks like a cache (see pic): it must be a treasure hunt, so please don't remove it... and don't try to log that one! The real cache is a 35 mm film canister and contains a standard geocaching log. Bring a pen.
