The old water tower has been converted into a
lookout tower and is fully enclosed from top to
bottom (though they remove the window frames during summer months
to keep it cool). Despite the cache name, the
tower is not in any way weak: in fact it has
recently been renovated to replace some old wood, and the stairs
are so sturdy they almost don't creak even when hundreds of people
thunder up and down them over the course of a year. Groups and
events often reserve the attached picnic area, and kids have a
playground to the southwest for when they're tired of bounding up
and down the tower stairs.
The terrain rating on this cache is to reflect that it is not
within easy reach, though it is easily spotted with a flashlight:
it may require a reach-extending tool or some very easy climbing to
obtain.
I love Star Wars. The container is a small, Darth Vader-colored,
waterproof Rubbermaid container with a logbook, two Star
Wars-themed prizes (which I'm told are valuable to the proper
collectors) and a small onyx ring of the "promise" variety for any
romantic cachers out there.
The original contents also included a Little Mermaids geocoin I
picked up during a short trip to Florida called
PSU Fan's Blonde Bayou Babe Geocoin.
- Please bring your own writing stick.
- For tall cachers, the terrain might be 2; for shorter cachers,
it might be 3.
- Please be careful! Despite the relative safety of the tower,
it's still possible to hurt yourself by falling. You don't need
to stand on the railing at the top of the tower.
