Unfortunately Dizzy Duck didn't get to read this one - someone had the library copy already and I don't have my own yet). Not sure he would've enjoyed it so much - it's maybe more a chick book ;-) (and also a soon to be released chick flick i've just discovered). Written in the decadent Jazz Age it tells of a day in the life of a dowdy nanny being transformed into the belle of the ball 16 Mar 08 View Image My favourite book as a youth My penpal told me about The Outsiders by S E Hinton when I was a youth in the '80's. I gather it's a staple of American youth literature, but not so well known here in the UK, so I was surprised to find that our parochial little Fife secondary school library actually had a copy! And after I read it and told everyone else about it, the library ended up getting a further 3 copies in to satisfy demand. Classic tale of gangs and rumbles.
16 Mar 08 View Image My favourite book as a kiddie This book,The Dragon Hoard by Tanith Lee, is the first book I can remember browsing in a book shop and choosing for myself. And it was extra special because it was hard back!! Have to confess to not really remember much about the plot now, other than the star crossed heroine was a swan by day and the hero a hawk by night (or something to that affect) and that I always remember it very fondly and it's one of only two kiddie books I have never binned. 11 Mar 07 View Image Dizzy reads Jasmin's favourite book
