About This Item

Please list the National Parks that you were able to get a Cancellation stamp. See the bottom of page 4 for a sample. There is no cost to you for the spamping of the passport. NP visitors centers are a good place to get them. There maybe a cost to get in the park. If you do not plan on going to one of our National Parks, that is okay also. Maybe you could move it closer to one of them instead.

It was somewhat sad to let this guy go, but we'd held onto it long enough.

There was a stop at Oregon Caves National Monument on June 22 that didn't have any caching associated with it, but the Passport did make the journey up the windy 22 mile road to the cave. We camped at Cave Creek campground (National Forest Service) amongst redwoods with the creek rushing by not more than 100 feet from our tent's door. At the monument itself, we toured the cave by candlelight.

Our final stop with the Passport was Redwood National Park. This was one of the highlights of the trip. We came to see big trees, and we saw BIG TREES. The ocean views were never a disappointment either. One of the final places we were with the Passport was Damnation Creek. It was a four mile hike 1100ft down to the ocean through a grove of tall Redwoods. The morning's fog added a different ambiance as well.

We left the Passport along the coast in an ammo box (not knowing how many more regular caches we'd find) with a note asking the next cacher to not log it until we'd returned home and were able to log our adventures with it.

We took the Passport to Crater Lake with us. Wow!!! Was that place cool! We camped with snow in our campsite and made it through the 37 degree night, but what we will most remember is the spectacular views of the deep blue water of Crater Lake! We were able to drive around most of the Rim Drive, but they were still working on plowing out seven to ten miles of it. "Come back on the Fourth of July," they told us!

Of course we collected a stamp at the VC.

We visited Mt. St. Helens with the Passport. Even though it's not a national park, we thought we'd collect the stamps we could. It came with us up to Johnson Ridge Observatory, but we forgot to get it stamped. We did get it stamped at the Silver Lake visitor center. It also came with us to the Ape Cave and Tale of Two Forests.

We camped at Kalaloch along the ocean with the Passport. Our site had a great view of the ocean. We also took it up to the Hoh Rain Forest and down to the Quinault Rain Forest. We were able to collect stamps at the first two, but the visitor center was closed at Quinault. Very Cool Stuff!!!
