Kladno

Kladno (named after home city of its owner) is participating in the Travel Bug Contest - Czech Run 2005.

Kladno (population 70,000) is a city in the Czech Republic, Europe. Famous for its black coal mines and steelworks in the past it has transformed into center of light industry recently. For example the main LEGO plant for Europe and adjacent areas is located there. Images and description of some historical sights of the city you can find at its official website.

What does this round wooden burnt plaque mean? It is so called „Turisticka znamka“ (Tourist Mark) which is a is a souvenir and at the same time „a proof“ of reaching a tourist attractive and interesting location as it can be purchased only at that place and nowhere else. The list of Tourist Marks in the Czech Republic currently comprise more than 1,400 locations (mountains, castles, historical towns, caves, zoological gardens etc.). The Czech Tourist Mark #652 (that of Kladno) depicts St Florian Chapel, designed by prominent 18th century architect Kilian Ignac Dientzenhofer.

The rules of the race:
- the starting cache is Hunger Wall – Prague Travel Bug Hotel in Czech Republic
- TB must travel to USA and visit caches at least in 5 U.S. states
- TB must be on the pictures with at least 5 geocachers, which will help him on the way
- TB must be photographed with at least 5 different means of transportation
- As the Czech Republic (the origin country) is considered as a country of beer, each TB must be photographed with at least 5 various kinds of beer
- TB cannot travel via mail
- 1 geocacher can take the TB only to one destination (an example: he/she cannot take it through 5 U.S. states and bring it to Prague)
- the TB owner cannot support his TB physically

The winner is the TB, which will hit the final cache - Pendulum ***** - Prague Travel Bug Hotel (GCHCE0) in Czech Republic as a first after fulfilment of all above mentioned conditions.
If in any case the more than one TB will hit the final cache together, the winner is the TB which has the highest number of the unique logs in the visited caches
- TB, which will not fill the above mentioned conditions will be excluded from the run.

Current status:
The race still goes on as of November 2006 with three competitors remaining.
