Kannst du mir helfen, wieder zu meinen Hexenschwestern nach Hause zu kommen? Ich wohne am Brocken im Naturpark Harz/Sachsen-Anhalt in Deutschland. Vielleicht können wir unterwegs noch ein paar Erinnerungsfotos schießen, die ich meinen Schwestern dann zeigen kann.

Hello, I am the Brocken Witch Luzia, nice that you have found me. I flew to Iceland on my witch broom to see this mystical country and got totally lost. Can you help me get back home to my witch sisters? I live near the Brocken in the Harz/Saxony-Anhalt Nature Park in Germany. Brocken witches are fictional figures of folk belief who are associated with the Brocken through their alleged gatherings on the Brocken, especially for the Witches' Sabbath on Walpurgis Night. The legends about witch meetings that take place at places called Blocksberg are said to have their origins in Slavic.

Until the first half of the 16th century, the mountain was only very sporadically mentioned as "Blocksberg" and a place for witch meetings. Since the second half of the 17th century, the Brocken has been considered the main meeting place of witches from all over Germany. The spread and popularization of the Brocken as a witch's mountain came about primarily through the popular work Blockes-Berges Verrichtung (1668) by Johannes Praetorius; through Goethe's Faust. Eine Tragödie (1808), who used Praetorius' book in the process, the motif of the witch's dance on May 1 became part of national education. The educational tourism initiated by Praetorius, and then even more so by Goethe, led to annual festivities on Walpurgis Night, including the sale of relevant souvenirs, after the Brocken had been opened up to traffic.
