I want to cross borders and see as many places as possible during my travels. I would be especially delighted to see blue lakes, the ocean, white winter landscapes and flags of different countries.
Please keep me moving and attach photos of my surroundings (bonus for pics with other flags).
Thank you and safe travels!
The flag of Finland (Finnish: Suomen lippu, Swedish: Finlands flagga) dates from the beginning of the 20th century. On a white background, it features a blue Nordic cross.
The symbolism of blue and white was first brought to the public's attention by the Finnish author, poet, journalist and historian Zachris Topelius. For the first time, Topelius portrayed blue and white as the colours of Finland in his fairy tale Linnake Suomen puolustus ("The Defense of Finland") in 1854, which appeared in a children's magazine called Eos. In the fairy tale, the boys' snow war general says when erecting the blue and white flag:
I tell you that white and blue are the colours of Finland - white because of our winter snow and blue because of our blue lakes.
