My name is Nippy, I am a Snowman! My snow family grew up in Wyobraska (Wyoming/Nebraska) and recently moved to New Mexico. For my family a snowman is made of snow. When we arrived in New Mexico we stumbled upon a strange site, tumbleweeds turning into snowmen. What an interesting holiday tradition. My mission is to travel from geocache to geocache and learn about strange traditions other's places have.
Releasing Nippy. Did you know? A huge tumbleweed snowman, standing over 14 feet tall, is constructed along I-40 outside of the Duke City (Albuquerque) every year. It has appeared there for more than two decades. The jolly giant goes up on Tumbleweed Tuesday (Tuesday after Thanksgiving) and stays there until January.
