----
Arthur immediately shows himself to be a just and equitable ruler, attentive to his people and his ministers, magnanimous in his decisions and flexible in many ways. He is resistant to torture, hostile to the death penalty, opposed to slavery, practicing polygamy, and is not particularly opposed to homosexuality or religion, whether polytheist or monotheist. He tries to govern as best as possible with those around him, including the worst, which regularly earns him the criticism and mockery of his most intellectually refined ministers.
Arthur is in charge of leading the Grail Quest. For this he built the Kaamelott Fortress, the Round Table, and he organizes the kingdom around this symbolic of the quest, with many difficulties. The early years of his reign combined proud chivalric epics with the discovery of treasures and monstrous battles with more down-to-earth concerns such as the defense of the kingdom against barbaric incursions or agricultural problems faced by peasants.
But the more time passes, the more difficulties accumulate; the friendship of the faithful Lancelot is tarnished, and ends up gradually turning to resentment and hatred, the Wandering Knight mainly reproaching the king for his weakness that drives him to keep weak by his side for the quest for the Grail. The most competent ministers, when they do not pull in the flank, put him in the wrong place. Some even betray him openly: Lancelot leaves Kaamelott definitively, supported by King Lot. Arthur feels that he is gradually losing control of his existence.
Yeah that's not wrong!
