Back in the summer of 1985 I did my Basic Training and A.I.T. in One Station Unit Training at Ft. Benning to qualify for the 2nd of the 136th (MECH) Infantry, part of the Minnesota Army National Guard. While serving with the guard I spent a couple of long weekends training at Ft. Lewis, a week at Ft. Riley, two week at the N.T.C. in Ft. Irwin, a lot of time at Camp Riply Minnesota and I went through Basic Winter Warfare training near Winnipeg MB with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles, the "Little Black Devils".
