The mission for this TB is to get to Central Africa, from where the basenji breed originates, and then back to Rusko in Finland. Pictures along the way are very appreciated! (Pictures from Central Africa with this TB together with local basenjis would be a dream come true!)
The basenji breed is generally thought to originate from the Congo basin in Central Africa. The name basenji comes from the Lingala language expression ”mbwá na basɛ́nzi”, which translated to English means something like ”dogs of the villagers”. The basenji was brought to Europe in the early 1900:s and from there it has spread around the globe. The roots to the original basenji are still strong, and a ”village dog” from Central Africa can be registered as a basenji even though it's pedigree is not known.
More information on the basenji breed can be found for example on Wikipedia: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basenji.
This trackable is a wooden figurine of a basenji dog with a metal Travel Buddy tag.
