This coin from the Swabian Alb in SW-Germany would like to be an ambassador from Germany to American people with German roots. Please bring this coin to the Main Strasse German Village in Covington, Kentucky. Take photos during the journey. After reaching the aim the coin will get a new mission.
At the western end of the village stands the Glockenspiel Carroll Chimes Bell Tower. In an effort to see Northern Kentucky grow as a vital tourist area, funding was appropriated by the Commonwealth of Kentucky to develop the area of MainStrasse. Some of the monies were allotted to construct the tower. Architect Addison Clipson was commissioned to design the tower and worked with partner Bill Batson.
Completed in 1979, the tower was named in honor of the then governor of Kentucky, Julian Carroll. The German gothic structure plays a 43-bell carillon hourly to present mini-concerts and the lively enactment of the folklore The Pied Piper of Hamelin.
